[ Exactly five minutes later, something happens. The five minutes were spent googling and then calibrating that fancy remote and --

It ends up close to the droid, actually. It's not like the sky tears, but there's a burst of a rainbow -- an actual rainbow portal -- and out steps... Woden, of course. ]

Now I don't know where you came from, but I was just in Herons.

[ A rainbow, of course. He had been reading about Norse, and Old English mythologies (because, you know, why not), and that's a nice touch.

But overall, this was actually very impressive. He's already thought of the possibility of this being an ability to teleport rather than something invented, but he doesn't find it very likely (12.9% likely).

Kay shifts his posture, tilting close a little bit, and glances up and down at Woden. ]

[ Despite his default tone usually sounding brutally sarcastic, he genuinely means this. ]

No one from my galaxy has figured out teleportation, let alone near instantaneous.

I mean for even general planetary travel. There's land and airspeeders used for that.

[ Now these are things he can answer with more confidence, than knowing the coolest nightclub around. ]

For intergalactic travel, starships are used. Hyperdrive is essential for intergalactic travel, or we'd all be taking years to get to one another.

[ Woden is a smart kid. He's intelligent enough that he can start putting things together, and start stringing terms together. A British teen?

Of fucking course he knows what Sci-fi stuff sounds like. ]

Slow, then. How long does your...hyperdrive take?

[ Well, he's in good company, being with a somehow British robot. ]

It depends on the route, and class of hyperdrive, but at the very most, travelling the span of my known galaxy- approximately 120,000 light years- would take a few days. A high class hyperdrive with a plotted course and minimal obstructions could take only a few hours to travel that same distance.

That's pretty fast. I don't know if I can outdo that without a little more to go off of.

[ Figuratively speaking. ]

That's not bad, though, sounds like a high class hyperdrive is what you need. [ A beat, because it's funny: ] Nobody likes a hyperdrive that breaks down all the time.

I can only imagine a ship that breaks down that frequently would be better found in the garbage.

[ Somehow, surely Han even without being Force Sensitive, can feel the disturbance of Kay talking shit about him. ]

Although I doubt it's out of my capability. It's just not something I've ever wanted to do. Kind of hard when you're only going to live for two years.

Well, at this point, one. But that's back home, not here.

If it's a byproduct of being on your home world, then it's possible that your expiration date would either reset, or not exist entirely. You could live longer. Is there any way you can tell?

According to the people who are from my world, it's more than just a theory, it's true.

[ He paused, then. ] It's not quite so simple as worship. It's... the Valkyries will do all the work to get the adulation. I'm just...happy to help.

[ And actually, he appreciates that. Relates to it, in a way. ]

I have the impression that you're lying, but I also don't know you enough to tell. So I'll accept that answer. What do the Valkyries do?

And that explains why you are looking for women who can sing. You don't have Valkyries here yet.
